Video Games...

So today I'll actually make a blog about video games. I prob started playing them when I was Kingergarten when my great grandma bout my sis and I an NES. It was real legit, brand-new tech, etc. I was hooked on Mariokart, Killer Instinct, and the Mortal Kombats.

In 4th grade I went to a friend's house to spend the night. It was one of my firsts of those; neway, turned out he had N64, and I thought it was the coolest thing EVER. My friends and I were all so fucking hooked (there were 2 others besides me). I had to wait a year, but I finally got an N64 for the holidays and loved playing Goldeneye007 and Starfox64.

Ended up getting a gamecube, then ps2, then xbox for the holidays (in order, one for each holiday) with some controllers and a game or two. ONLY impressed with gamecube as far as comfortable controller, portability, and Super Smash Bros melee (Super Smash Bros was like tied for best multiplayer game on N64 with Goldeneye). Then PS2 only purchased because I wanted the GTAs. Kept me occupied quite a while and they're all some of the best single-player games ever created, though no multiplayer really hurt replayability (not like there wasn't anything to do after you beat campaign...) Xbox was THE system at the time, which I got the latest. A friend in 5th or 6th grade had an Xbox and i was completely addicted to Halo 1. It was the sickest thing ever and the REASON I bought an Xbox.

My friends and I camped out for an Xbox 360 probably about a month after it came out (shipments were ridic rare). We had tons of fun and were well-prepared with chairs, food, an SUV to sleep in, and a football to throw around. Though lethargic and sleep-deprived in the morning, hapiness oozed from my pores as I acquired an Xbox 360 with Perfect Dark Zero. It lasted a while as a pretty fun game, though it was sort of disappointing to be honest. Perfect Dark was completely amazing on N64, but the control scheme on 360 seriuosly ruined it for me. It was not tight at all... if it was tighter controls I woulda loved it. Seriously had to have ruined the game. So after that I pretty much stuck to playing Halo 2 on the 360, with some occasional PGR3. Then ended up getting Gears of War, which had quite a good multiplayer (though could get old if played excessively). Single player is phenominal and once in a while I'll work on the campaign some.

Halo 2 was definitely fun for a good 5 months or so. The single-player was abysmal IMO but the Multiplayer clearly made Halo2 a must-buy. Some friends and I would always go to some kids houses and play eachother in the presence of snacks and drinks, and just in general very good times were shared playing Halo 2 (reminiscent of Goldeneye times and Halo 1).

Very happy to say I recently found my old Half-Life2 CD, and last nite installed that and counterstrike:source w/ all updates. Very happy- those games were so sweet a while back. I remember HL2 campaign was phenominal and graphics were sick. Took FOREVER. I was eagerly awaiting HL2 after the first Half-Life, which was completely amazing in its own right for single player, but damn, CounterStrike was the most addicting multiplayer game ever for the first few months I was playing it. Half Life 2 deathmatch is also a sick addon, actually free, which I might install later if I get a bit tired of CS:Source. It was soo much fun using the gravity gun and shit, and graphics were of course top-notch. I orginally was apprehensive to installing Steam and HL2 and whatnot since it uses up a ridic amount of HD space and whatnot. Tho I have 500GB hard drive space for both drives on my desktop, it stil does slow down the comp because Steam often runs in the background (the service on which to play all Valve games online). I prob won't purchase the single-player Hl2 addons...

The point is video games are a nice break from reality. I rarely play them nemore, but will play them rather than playing poker when I'm bored (which will be MAJOR MAJOR help to prevent playing poker when bored, but instead when motivated and want to really win $). Definitely looking forward to Halo 3 coming out- the beta demo was pretty fun and the graphics nuts, and controls felt tight. Got a little boring playing same levels, but I'm sure it will be completely sweet when it's finally released. I will still make sure to do my work tho, as well as play bball/football and hang out with friends normally. But video games are good for when it's late at night on a weekend and nothing's on TV, like if I was tired from just gettin in w/ hanging out with friends or somethin. W/e, rant over, updates to come (hopefully when I have my $1k roll on FTP).
